The carriers in automotive catalyst converter are ceramic. The iolite content of such carrier is usually more than 95%. The heat expansion coefficient of iolite is approximate to 0, so it can endure high temperature (its melting point: 1400¡æ) and heat impact up to 1200¡æ, and its mechanical strength increases with the rise of temperature. The carrier is usually of honeycomb shape, and has thin walls and certain strength as required. The number of holes of a carrier shall also meet certain requirements, such as the current ¡°400 holes per square inch¡± or more. The cross section of carrier is circular, elliptical, or of raceway shape or other shapes, which is determined and adjusted mainly in consideration of the automobile model.

The material for catalytic converter substrate ¨C honeycomb ceramic is cordierite. The natural cordierite exists very rare in nature, so most of cordierites are man-made substances. The major features for such cordierite are low thermal expansion coefficient, good thermal shock resistance, high anti-acid, anti-alkali and antii-erosion function and good mechanical strength.
The major technical parameters for cordierite are as below:

The usual CPSI for catalytic converter substrate is 400. The shape of honeycomb ceramic is round, racetrack, ellipse and other special shape according to the customer's requirement in order to meet the different cars models requirements.

Three-way Catalytic Converter
Our company has successfully developed many types of three-way catalytic converter, which are suitable for cars in all types and meet the emission standard. As customers' requests, all kind of three-way catalytic converter can be explored and produced.
The three-way Catalytic Converter can eliminate 90% amount of the three main pollutants (hydrocarbon, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide). A complete catalyzing reaction depends on the preserving degree of the mixed fuel on the small side of A/ F (rate of air and fuel). This A/ F performance can be realized by exerting the normal system of oxide sensor function.
